A man recently arrested on murder charges is suspected of fatally shooting the victim after finding his Tesla tire slashed in Dallas' Love Field neighborhood, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The investigation says officers responded to the 3300 block of Hudnall Street around 4:20 a.m. April 12 and found the victim, Isaiah Blasig Prickett, lying in an apartment complex with multiple gunshot wounds, and a 9mm shell casing nearby. It started after a gun was fired. .
He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died, according to the affidavit.
Officers said in the affidavit that they found surveillance footage showing Blasig-Prickett slashing the tires of a 2023 Tesla and fleeing the scene. About 17 minutes later, the video shows someone exiting the apartment, inspecting the Tesla, and walking in the direction Blasig-Prickett ran.
Police said the distance between the Tesla and where the victim was shot was about 200 yards.
The car's registered owner, 29-year-old Chevan Franche, was interviewed by police, but he exercised his right to remain silent and requested a lawyer.
A witness who came with Ms. Ffrench was also interviewed by police and said that Mr. Ffrench called her around 10:40 a.m. on the day of the shooting and that the Tesla had tampered with her cell phone earlier that morning, according to the affidavit. He said that he received a notification that he had been arrested.
The man said he grabbed a 9mm handgun, inspected the Tesla and fired at the victim as he fled, according to the warrant.
A witness told police that French took an Uber to work after the shooting and that she picked him up and took him to the interview, the officer wrote in the affidavit.
French was arrested the same day and booked into the Dallas County Jail. Records show he was released on bond.
It was not immediately clear whether Blasig-Prickett and French knew each other before the shooting.
Investigation is ongoing.
