A Pontiac man who allegedly fled to Texas after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend's uncle to death has been extradited to Michigan to face charges.
Juan Ramirez Jr., 31, was arrested a few weeks ago at a bus stop in Dallas, Texas, and is now back in his Pontiac. He was charged Friday in the 50th District Court with second-degree murder in the April 27 killing of Gregory Allen Copeland, 69, and assault with intent to commit murder involving Copeland's niece. was charged with a crime.
Mr. Ramirez was denied bail and is being held in the Oakland County Jail.
Copeland was found dead in the basement of a home in the 80 block of Ivy Street in Pontiac. He had been stabbed several times in the chest. According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, police found Copeland's niece, who was reportedly in a relationship with Ramirez, in a “highly emotional and agitated state” on the roof of her carport. Mr. Ramirez was released on parole by the Michigan Department of Corrections on December 5, 2023, after serving nearly 10 years in prison for unarmed robbery and home invasion convictions in Oakland County.
