It's a bit of a consolation prize for those still mourning the retirement of Eagles star center Jason Kelce, but the New Heights podcast appears to be stronger than ever.
New Heights, the weekly show hosted by Kelsey (America's Sweetheart) and his brother Travis, was named Podcast of the Year at the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards. The podcast features weekly game recaps and all-around sports coverage, mixed with a bit of humorous pop culture, like candle scents. The brothers started the show in 2022 and have dropped 81 episodes so far.
Although the brothers were unable to attend the awards ceremony at the SXSW event in Austin, Texas, they shared a video acceptance speech. In it, Jason has to give a nod to the new number one fan base, the Swifties, who started supporting the podcast after Travis Kelce started dating singer (and Berks County native) Taylor Swift. There wasn't.
“Receiving this award is an incredible honor and beyond humbling, especially for two Jabronies like us,” Jason Kelce said in the video. Told. “We would be remiss if we didn't immediately thank all the 92% of people, aka Swifties, who voted for us to win this award.”
The brothers also credited fans and the production staff, who are not related to Taylor, for the show's success.
“We absolutely love making this podcast every week, and it's extremely rewarding to know that it resonates with so many people and the joy they derive from it.” ” said Jason.
Jason Kelce, 36, announced his retirement earlier this month after 13 seasons with the Eagles, including a Super Bowl championship in 2017. A beloved figure in the region, his retirement has already been commemorated with tributes, including limited edition Campbell's Soup cans and a countdown of his popular costumes.
