A former Massachusetts-based liquid cooling company has named Carrollton its new headquarters, aiming to meet growing demand for its services.
LiquidStack said in a March 5 news release that the new facility comes as demand for liquid cooling services has soared due to the rapid growth of generative AI in recent years.
LiquidStack, which works closely with data centers, said it plans to triple its manufacturing team by the end of 2024. The company currently has about 50 employees and plans to recruit workers at university career fairs throughout the year, he said.
Data center computing hardware supporting generative artificial intelligence and AI technologies has significantly increased the demand for liquid cooling. The LiquidStack executive says that demand is expected to increase significantly as new generations of his AI chips are released.
“We are seeing extremely high demand for liquid cooling around the world as a result of the introduction of ultra-high TDP chips that are driving the scale and construction of generative AI,” LiquidStack CEO Joe Capes said in a statement.
The company's new headquarters and manufacturing site in Carrollton spans more than 20,000 square feet of suites. The facility, located near Old Downtown Carrollton and adjacent to Farmers Branch, will be operational starting December 2023.
Dan Walker, Liquid Stack's plant manager, said the company chose Carrollton because of its “high level of diversity, amenities, employment and housing,” as well as the suburb's reputation for safety. said.
Walker also noted the ability to tap into DFW's talent pool.
“I created the Dallas/Ft. I know this firsthand,” Walker said in a statement.
Rapidly growing Carrollton is booming with new developments, including a transit-centric site in partnership with Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
Founded in 2012, LiquidStack was formerly known as Allied Control Limited and was based in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Outside the United States, we also have operations in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
Although the company is primarily known as a two-phase cooling vendor, it has recently introduced single-phase liquid cooling solutions as part of its lineup. We also manufacture direct-to-chip cooling distribution units and prefabricated data centers. The Carrollton site will also host training and demonstrations for customers, including service engineers and multiple global partners.
Additionally, LiquidStack's move to Carrollton comes at a time when many technology companies are relocating their headquarters to North Texas or expanding their footprint in the region. Security company Assa Abloy moved its U.S. headquarters to Plano earlier this year, and industrial technology company Visitech recently doubled its operations in Allen.
The official ribbon-cutting for the new headquarters is scheduled for March 22, and will include city leaders and business partners.
