O'Riordan said: “When Acast asked me to do this podcast, I wanted it to be a wall-to-wall podcast series. A behind-the-scenes look at why I took on the stories of the Magdalene women, and how their stories are. I wanted to create a podcast that was conversational and easy to listen to, reflecting on their impact on me and the struggles I went through to make their voices heard.”
Jennifer Dollard, Director of Creators Network Ireland, said: The stories of the Magdalene women and the personal relationships that Stephen developed with each of them are unique. This podcast highlights subjects that reflect sad times for Irish women in our society. This series will enlighten, educate and inform people of all ages about how and why women of all ages end up in these institutions. ”
O'Riordan continued, “So much remains a mystery about what happened to these women. But in episode two, that's when my jaw dropped to the floor.'' was interviewing two relatives whose grandmother died in 1983 and was buried in a mass grave. The circumstances of the exhumation and how the family had to fight to get their loved one back. is shocking. To this day, the Order still has much to explain.”
