At the launch event, Small said ARPA-H is “all about high-risk, high-return opportunities.” And we know that with the assets we have, not just in Texas but across our spoke network, we can reduce risk and increase rewards for patients everywhere. ”
Small then gestured to her clothes and pointed out:
“I'm wearing pink today in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. After all, that's why we're here. We're here because of ARPA-H and this… Because, like everyone else in the room, we believe that the patient should come first. We want to change the patient journey. We want to transform the patient's life. We want to get better. If we are not healthy, we basically have nothing.”
“So, we can talk about the process and all these fun things, but we're here because we don't want to have another disease awareness month,” Small added. “We want to cure those diseases. That's why we're here today.
Mr. Small noted that the audience at the launch event included key figures from top healthcare institutions, nonprofit organizations, community organizations, academia, government, and the corporate sector. He also welcomed Texas hub partners from across the Lone Star State, including Austin, Houston and San Antonio, and thanked ARPANET colleagues visiting from the Investor Catalyst Hub in Boston.
“It's been a really fun two years, and a lot of people in this room have joined us on this journey,” she said of the effort to bring a national health hub to Texas.
“Your partnership and innovative ideas are what make ARPA-H possible and its mission to accelerate improved health outcomes for all,” Small told the audience.
