As many North Carolinians know, the Triangle is a hotspot during basketball season. One of the biggest rivalries in college sports will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 in Durham, North Carolina.
But Cameron Indoor Stadium isn't the only place to watch basketball games this weekend. Celebrations of the sport begin a day early for him as his famous basketball podcast, “One Shining Podcast,” will be held in Durham on Friday, March 8th. A live recording of the show, hosted by Tate Frazier, will take place at the Carolina Theater in Durham starting at 2 p.m.8pm
“One Shining Podcast” is a program that aims to “unravel the many mysteries that exist in the world of basketball,” and covers the ever-changing sports landscape, including college basketball and professional basketball.
Part of The Ringer Podcast Network, “One Shining Podcast” features special guests including sports analysts and former NBA players, providing insight from Atlantic Coast Conference news to the FIFA World Cup.
This episode, recorded live in Durham, covers the upcoming UNC vs. Duke men's basketball game and the end of the college regular season. There will also be a preview of March Madness 2024's highly anticipated Selection Sunday on March 17th, when the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament teams will be selected.
Frazier, a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, said on this weekend's Big Match podcast that he is “very happy” to be back in the area.
“There's nothing like the rivalry between the University of North Carolina and Duke University,” he said.
Frazier grew up a fan of basketball, specifically the Tar Heels. He acted out a play in his living room, pretending that he and his brother were some of the famous players on the 1993 NCAA championship team. This passion for sports translates into his career as a podcast host, and he is excited to welcome his family, friends, and basketball enthusiasts to the Carolina Theater to watch the show in person.
“It's the best time of year to be a true basketball fan,” Frazier said.
The Carolina Theater is a Triangle institution that has hosted concerts, comedy shows, and movies since 1926, along with the sport of basketball itself. It is also not uncommon for him to host live podcast events that include recordings featuring Frasier. Joe His Student, the theater's senior director of live events, describes the atmosphere of these live his podcast events as a “game atmosphere,” thanks to the hundreds of enthusiastic fans who packed the venue. I expressed it.
“Our historic venue is the perfect setting for a live podcast show,” Student said.
By attending the “One Shining Podcast” live recorded event, basketball fans will be at the center of listening to one of the best college basketball podcasts and one of the most anticipated moments of the season.
But the excitement doesn't end there. Attendees should also be prepared for special guests that Frazier and the “One Shining Podcast” crew may call on during the live recorded event.
“You never know who’s going to show up,” Student said.
No matter what Frazier has in store, the 'One Shining Podcast' live event is a treat for sports fans to hear key insights and provide the latest college basketball news as an exciting weekend and tipoff to March Madness must.
As Student aptly put it, the event is “the perfect way to pre-game on Saturday” for fans across the region to prepare for the thrilling showdown.
