FRISCO – The Dallas Cowboys will play the first games of their 2024 rookie class on Friday and Saturday.
Tyler Guyton, selected by the Cowboys in the first round of the NFL Draft, is already showing off his work ethic. Guyton moved to Air BNB just two days after the draft, allowing him to hit the ground running at left tackle for Dallas. Across the street from the Cowboys' headquarters, Guyton trains with Duke Manyweather, a renowned offensive line guru and founder of O-Line Masterminds.
“I couldn't wait to get up here. I could sit at home for two weeks or go to work,” Guyton said.
Another highlight of the first day of rookie minicamp was defensive end Marshawn Kneeland. Nyland has drawn comparisons to Cowboys star DeMarcus Lawrence. Nyland has yet to face Lawrence, a 10-year veteran.
“But I followed his Instagram. If he sees this, please follow me back,” Kneeland said.
Kneeland will wear Dallas' legendary No. 94 jersey, previously worn by two Hall of Fame pass rushers, Charles Haley and DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys assigned him a number, and Nyland understands the expectations that come with it.
The Cowboys will welcome 20 players (eight NFL draft picks and 12 undrafted free agents) to The Star. This will be the first time the new Cowboys will be together in front of coach Mike McCarthy and his staff. The players will have two “walk-through” practices on Friday and a full practice on Saturday. They will meet with the media for the first time in the locker room.
Here are some notable takeaways from the exercise: The future of the Cowboys' offensive line is big – Guyton (60), Nathan Thomas (62) and Cooper Beebe (56) will be on the field.
Cornerback Kaylen Carson, a fifth-round NFL draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys, also has remarkable physicality. Cowboys third-round NFL Draft pick linebacker Marist Liufau has noticeably long arms.
Much of NFL rookie minicamp is about getting used to the league's environment, meeting the training staff, and, let's be honest, finding a restroom. It will be important for the returning Cowboys to acclimate to their surroundings before entering the building for voluntary “organized team activities” May 21-23 and May 29-31.
