The 76ers (30-18) host the Dallas Mavericks (26-23) on Monday in the second of a four-game homestand.
The Sixers lost to the Brooklyn Nets 136-121 in Saturday's homestand opener. With the exception of Tyrese Maxey (23pts, 3reb, 5ast, 3stl), the Sixers were completely without a traditional starting lineup.
It's been an exciting week for Maxey, who was named to the NBA All-Star team for the first time on Thursday, scoring a career-high 51 points in the team's win over Utah later that night.
“He was announced as an All-Star and dropped 50 points to earn the dub!” Jaden Springer said after Sunday's practice. “It's a perfect day.”
In Maxey's first All-Star season, he set career highs for the fourth-year pro, posting 26.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.
Maxey's 26.2 points per game is the 16th highest scoring average in the league as of Sunday.
Following Monday's game, the Sixers will host the Golden State Warriors (21-25) on Wednesday and the Atlanta Hawks (22-27) on Friday before returning to the road.
The Sixers and Mavericks will meet for the second and final time of the regular season on March 3 in Dallas.
The Mavericks have struggled a bit lately, going 4-6 in their last 10 games. The team most recently lost 129-117 to the Bucks in Dallas on Saturday.
Luka Doncic leads the Mavs in scoring (34.8 points – 2nd in the NBA), rebounds (8.6 points), assists (9.6 points) and steals (1.4 points). In Dallas' most recent game against Milwaukee, Doncic had a double-double of 40 points and 11 assists, along with nine rebounds and one steal. He made 13-of-26 shots from the field, 4-of-12 from deep and 10-of-11 from the foul line.
Kyrie Irving, who is averaging 25.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists for Dallas this season, hasn't played since Jan. 22 due to a sprained right thumb.
Monday's matchup will be the first stop on a three-game road trip for the Mavericks, who will then face the Nets and Knicks.
