Bobby Harrison, Mississippi Today's senior Capitol reporter, covers politics, government and the Mississippi State Legislature. He also writes weekly news analysis and co-publishes it in newspapers across the state. Bobby, a Laurel native, joined our team in June 2018 after working for the North Tupelo, Mississippi, Daily Journal since 1984. He is president of the Mississippi State Capitol Press Association and works with the Mississippi State University Stennis Institute to organize press luncheons. Bobby holds a bachelor's degree in American Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi and has received multiple awards from the Mississippi State Press Association, including the Bill Miner Award for Best Investigative/In-depth Reporting and Best Expository Column.

Jeff Pender serves as senior political reporter and works closely with Mississippi Today's leadership on editorial strategy and research. Pender brings 30 years of political and government reporting experience to Mississippi Today. He was the politics and research editor for the Clarion Ledger, where he also wrote a popular political column. He previously served as an investigative reporter and political editor at the Sun Herald and was a member of the team that won a Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina. A native of Florence, Mississippi, Pender is a University of Southern Mississippi journalism graduate who has received numerous awards throughout his career for his press, columns, and freedom of information work.
Jeff Pender Other Works
Mr. Taylor is from Grenada and is in charge of the state government and statewide elections. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and Holmes Community College. Before joining Mississippi Today, Taylor reported on state and local government for the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, where he won awards for his coverage of federal lawsuits against the state's mental health system.
