That's why it was interesting to see the reaction to the comments made by Barack Obama, another Democratic president the EU aspires to, when he visited Antwerp to attend a technology conference. In particular, he suggested that NATO's European mission may need to step up its defense efforts. He delivered on topics like President Trump with the calmness of an Obamamaniac.
This exchange was a good starting point for Martin and William to discuss the details and ups and downs of their transatlantic relationship before, during, after, and perhaps again, their meeting with Donald J. Trump. It's as bad as you think it is, but it may not be, and it's different. American world hegemony has existed for too long and is too big to be destroyed, even if some people want it to be.
We also get updates on moderate support for Ukraine, moves on action against Israel, and thoughts on Vladimir Putin's surprising victory.
