Welcome to the weekly podcast with Jeff Lowenfels and co-host Jonathan White. Consider this a supplement to Jeff's weekly ADN Gardening column and his popular series of books.
This week: Jeff and Jonathan have received many questions about voles and the damage they cause. Did you know that voles take shelter between the snow and the ground during the winter? They also create complex tunnels with kitchens, bedrooms, etc. However, while it usually leaves the roots intact, it can cause significant damage to your lawn.
After that, the conversation turns to seeds. Spring in Alaska is a great time to start planting, especially indoors. However, some seeds, such as peas and certain beans, can now be planted outdoors.
Finally, the team answers some listener questions, including one about using coffee grounds in the garden.
