Dallas Southwest Airlines temporarily suspended some flights on Wednesday evening while it worked to resolve a “technical issue.”
The airline said Wednesday afternoon that it had resolved a temporary technical issue caused by a power outage at one of its Dallas-area data centers.
“While overall operations continued, some flights across the system were delayed while our teams addressed the outage and restarted the system,” the airline said in a statement. “We apologise to our customers and ask for their patience and patience as we work to get you to your destination as quickly and safely as possible.”
A total of 161 Southwest Airlines flights out of Love Field were delayed on Wednesday, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.
Southwest Airlines launched a new program earlier this month offering vouchers to passengers on delayed flights.
At Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the FAA, at the airline’s request, grounded American Airlines flights Wednesday evening to manage arriving traffic.
American Airlines canceled 290 flights on Wednesday, 25% of its schedule, and delayed 504 flights, 43% of its schedule.
