President Joe Biden will spend Wednesday and Thursday in Texas taking part in three private fundraising events in Dallas and Houston ahead of this November's election.
Biden is considered the Democratic nominee and will face Republican candidate Donald Trump in a rematch of the 2020 election this fall.
Air Force One landed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. That night, a motorcade transported the president to two campaign receptions in North Texas.
One of Biden's events in Dallas was hosted by trial lawyer Russell Budd and Dallas attorney Regina Montoya, according to our partners at the Dallas Morning News. The newspaper reported that the second event was hosted by Dallas businessman Nyland Youngblood, according to people familiar with the event who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Biden spent about an hour at each reception. He raised $2.5 million in his first event.
The president was greeted by pro-Palestinian demonstrators at Youngblood's second event in Preston Hollow.
The president did not plan to make any public appearances during his visit to North Texas.
Early Thursday, more than 50 protesters from PYM Dallas and other groups gathered in front of Biden's hotel in downtown Dallas, demanding a ceasefire.
Around 10:40 a.m. Thursday, Air Force One departed DFW Airport for Houston, where the president was scheduled to attend another fundraiser.
Before the visit to Texas, the Biden campaign had set aside $155 million in cash for the 2024 election, far more than President Trump's total cash reserves, according to a report by the Associated Press.
Ahead of Wednesday's visit to Texas, NBC News reported that Biden will visit Arizona and give Intel up to $8.5 billion in direct funding and $11 billion in direct funding for computer chip factories in Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico and Oregon. The company announced an agreement to provide US dollar loans. Intel's project will be partially funded through the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, which the Biden administration helped pass through Congress.
President Biden visited North Texas on Wednesday night and headed to Houston on Thursday. NBC 5's Vince Sims and Meredith Yeomans have the latest.
