The Dallas Art Fair was held this weekend, bringing galleries from all over the world to the Fashion Industry Gallery downtown. The fair was open to the public Friday through Sunday. On Saturday morning, Texas Pride Museum Director Michael Dewberry hosted a trade show tour titled: Queering the Fair: Celebrating the artistic achievements of LGBTQIA+ artists.
From Dallas Art Fair:
This curated experience celebrates art created by queer makers in a variety of media working around the world. In one hour, we'll introduce you to some of the most important emerging and established artists of our time who use their queer identities to express their pride.
The tour stopped at both floors of the fair and highlighted art at Houston's McClain Gallery, Anat Ebugi, Sputnik, Wolfgang Gallery, and Kaisers Corning in the Design District. At each gallery, gallery representatives spoke about the queer art featured in their collections. Although I didn't go on the tour, I was able to see the art of queer artist Chris Bozier (last photo), co-founder of Fire Island Artist Residency (FIAR), the world's first LGBTQ artist residency. The featured Mrs. Gallery was important.
The tour details are as follows.
