What have you been up to lately?
After taking time off in January to focus on creating and resting (which I think is important for touring life and mental health), I'm back to traveling and gigging. I feel more motivated than ever before.
Where and how was the mix recorded? And can you tell us the idea behind it?
This mix was recorded using two Technics SL-1200 turntables, two Pioneer XDJ700s, and a Rane MP2016 mixer at home. Her best friend's birthday and mine are on the same day (March 18th) so I knew this mix would be close to that date so I decided to dedicate it to her. We were born in the same year and she inspires me every day, so I imagine her dancing to those tracks even without an actual dance floor in front of her. Now it's much easier to do. I would like to introduce some sounds that have resonated with me recently while telling their stories.
What club or party had a big influence on you as an artist?
One of the biggest inspirations for me in recent years was “No Way Back” at Tangent Gallery in Detroit during Movement Weekend last year. Detroit is a city that reminds us that experience is what makes a true artist. And that party was a perfect example of that.
What social or political cause would you like the world to pay more attention to?
The genocide happening in Gaza. Being fair is no longer an option. Stay informed about what's going on, keep donating, join the demonstrations, and don't stay silent if you have a platform.
What are you looking forward to in the near future?
We're looking forward to releasing our first EP later this year. It's my first time playing my own songs in a club and it's one of the best feelings in the world. I can't wait to hear other artists perform this song once it's released. I'm sure it will be even better.
