Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School, an all-girls magnet school in Dallas, has been ranked No. 1 on Niche magazine's annual list of the top 20 public middle schools in Dallas-Fort Worth.
The Top 20 rankings are based on analysis of key statistics and reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, teacher quality, and high school ratings. According to Niche, SAT/ACT scores were removed from this year's rankings, reflecting the general neglect of test scores in the college admissions process. Click here to learn more about the report.

• Roller Middle School took second place in Niche's rankings. The Frisco school currently enrolls her 953 students, ranging from sixth grade through eighth grade.
• Coppell Middle School – 3rd place in the East. This school has 1,081 students enrolled from grades 6 to 8.
• In fourth place is Westlake Academy, a charter school with 877 students enrolled in kindergarten through 12th grade. Westlake Academy also received the No. 1 niche ranking for DFW's best charter elementary schools.
• Rounding out the top five is Bill Hayes Middle School in Frisco, with 1,680 students in grades six through eight.
