Pasadena-based real estate agent Lisa Klose announced her candidacy for the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Board of Education representing District 6, saying she is committed to public service and education.
In an open letter, Klose said her decision to run stems from her dedication to prioritizing the well-being and academic success of PUSD students. With all three of her children attending her PUSD schools, Ms. Klose brings personal investment to the campaign with the goal of fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for all children in the district. .
“I have been actively involved in supporting the district by being involved as an executive committee member for both the PUSD PTA Council and Don Benito’s PTA,” she said. “Our students must come first, and that’s exactly what my campaign will focus on.”
Mr. Klose uses his background in public service and small business development to emphasize the importance of stability and student-centered policies within school boards. In his letter, he said the PUSD Board of Education should focus on providing a stable and safe environment for families and students.
“I want to foster a community that nurtures the emotional, physical, and educational needs of all children,” Klose wrote. “The mismanagement and infighting that plagues the Board of Education must stop. If elected, I will focus on improving student outcomes. I am committed to representing you professionally. . Recognize the impact that stability has on academic success and minimize disruption to your child's educational environment.”
Prior to moving to California, Mr. Klose served as District Director for the United States Senate and then Director of Operations for the Pennsylvania State Senate, where he gained valuable experience in legislative policy and constituent services.
Her family moved to Pasadena in 2018 when her husband, Steve Klose, an aeronautical software engineer, joined JPL's Mars rover team.
Currently, Lisa Klose uses her negotiation and marketing expertise as a real estate agent and project manager for John Mark Real Estate. She is her PUSD Certified Realtor with the Pasadena Education Network and works on behalf of schools and students every day.
Klose is an active Girl Scout volunteer and the president of the National Real Estate Sales Association. Professional members include the Pasadena Foothills Association of Realtors, Tournament of Roses Association, Pasadena Rotary, San Gabriel Valley Fiduciary Round Table, and San Gabriel Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Klose also holds leadership positions on the PUSD PTA Council and the Don Benito Fundamental School PTA.
Lisa Klose, recipient of the Fannie B. Thalheimer Scholarship, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Maryland Institute College of Art in 1995.
