Adrian, Michigan – Homes in the city of Adrian would be subject to point-of-sale inspections if a pending ordinance is approved by the City Commission.
Local real estate agents strongly oppose the ordinance, arguing that the current blight and rental inspection ordinances should be more than enough to clean up blight in the city without imposing unnecessary and costly mandates, and that the proposed changes are an overreach of government power.
The changes could be approved as early as the next regular meeting. Join us now: WLEN News Director Ian Wendt and Adrian City Administrator Greg Elliott.
The proposed ordinance states in part: “Improve the livability of neighborhoods in the City of Adrian by enforcing compliance with the minimum standards of the International Property Maintenance Code and other applicable provisions of the Adrian Code as adopted by the City of Adrian, and promote the maintenance, preservation, improvement and development of housing for all people regardless of income level.”
