Santander Consumer USA plans to remain at 1601 Elm St., which bears the Santander Tower name.
The Dallas-based auto finance company will lease 211,087 square feet in the 50-story building owned by Pacific Elm Properties Inc. Santander Consumer USA will be headquartered in the building and will retain naming rights to the building.
Robbie Baty and Travis Booth of commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield represented Santander Consumer USA in negotiating the lease, while Sarah Terry and Regan Busby of Pacific Elm Properties represented the landlord.
“Santander explored various options in the area and ultimately determined that its current Santander Tower was the best location for the team’s long-term future,” said Batty, who is vice chairman and tenant representation leader for Cushman & Wakefield’s Dallas office.
Eric Rainey, chief financial officer for Santander Consumer USA, said the company is a long-time tenant downtown.
“We remain active supporters of the local community and are pleased to continue our work here,” he said.
Santander Tower was one of the first buildings in downtown Dallas to undergo major renovations in 2017 and 2023 from a purely office building to a mixed-use building.
In addition to offices, the 1.4 million-square-foot tower will house a 60-room boutique hotel, the Mint House, and 14-story luxury residential complex, the Peridot Residences, as well as ground-floor restaurants, a Tower Club, and fitness facilities.
