Across Florida, 214 young people are receiving college assistance from the Florida Realtors Educational Foundation for the 2023-24 school year.
The Florida Realtors Educational Foundation Student Scholarship Program (FREF) was established to help eligible students offset the costs of college and graduate school.

The target audience is as follows.
- Florida high school seniors planning to attend undergraduate school or college.
- Students currently enrolled in a university department
- Students entering graduate school
Students considering a career in real estate or real estate-related fields will receive special consideration in accordance with the objectives of the Florida Realtors Educational Foundation. However, students from outside majors may also apply.
Scholarships start at $1,000. Criteria for award recipients include, but are not limited to, academic achievement, financial need, leadership qualities, relationships with real estate agent families, and contributions to family, school, and community. The Foundation's Board of Directors has sole and absolute discretion regarding all decisions regarding whether an applicant is eligible.

Q. Can real estate agents and their families apply?
A. Yes. FREF scholarships are available to Florida residents attending undergraduate or undergraduate studies, as well as students taking graduate-level studies.
Since its inception, the foundation has awarded approximately $2 million in scholarships to help offset college and graduate school costs.
Q. If I have already won a FREF scholarship, am I eligible to apply again?
A. Applicants may receive one scholarship every 12 months and may receive a maximum of two scholarships. All students must complete an application each year, even if they were a scholarship recipient in the previous year.
Q. Do I need to attend college in Florida? Is this scholarship only for Florida residents?
A. There are no restrictions on the location of the university, as long as the applicant indicates an intention to return to work in Florida after graduation. Yes, proof of legal Florida residency is required.
Q. How do I upload a reference letter?
A. This scholarship requires three letters of recommendation, including two from school teachers or administrators, on school letterhead. There are two options for attaching a reference letter. Applicants can upload reference letters, or the program can send emails to recommenders asking them to upload letters.
Q. How much money will scholarship winners receive?
A. The number and amount of scholarships vary each year. The minimum scholarship for most years is $1,000. The FREF Board has sole discretion in awarding scholarships.
Q. How long does the review take?
A. The review process is typically completed by the end of April. Winners will be notified by phone.
Q. How soon should I claim my scholarship if I receive notification that I have won?
A. Generally, you must request funds by mid-to-late July of the year the scholarship is awarded. If not, the scholarship will be cancelled. Certain dates will change.
Q. How is the scholarship paid?
A. Checks will be issued directly to the university.
Q. Can I mail my application and other supporting documents to a Florida real estate agent?
A: No. Applications must be made online.
