On March 21, Scripps College will present A Simple Herstory, a groundbreaking, award-winning, deviant, multiplatform audio fiction that explores more than 100 women who have run for president of the United States. The first season revolves around Victoria Woodhull, perhaps the first woman to run for office, in 1872, before women were given the right to vote. Season 1 is presented by Muse Project and Obie Award-winning theater company The Tank.

Jocelyn Kritsky is an actor/creator. He is hailed as “one of the queens of downtown irregularities.” She has appeared in a wide range of stage productions in New York. She has also appeared on television, film, and audio fiction podcasts. Most recently, Jocelyn co-starred in Bad Infinity, the first film adaptation of legendary playwright Mack Wellman's work. Additionally, she played a supporting role in her original podcast series, “I Think You're Projecting,” directed by Peabody Award winner Jenny Turner Hall and awarded Audible's “Best of the Year.” Jocelyn is the creator of her Telly Award-winning multi-platform podcast series “A Simple Herstory.” Season 1 won Tank (Artist of the Year) at Her Theater's 2022 Gala, and the series was also featured in Forbes. Many of the biggest names in the theater world have appeared, including Florencia Lozano, Kara Young, Kate Burton, and Daphne Rubin-Vega. She is also the founder and resident actor of the Drama Desk Award-nominated and Lucille Lortel Award-winning Immersive Theater Company and The Woodshed She Collective. Jonathan A. Goldberg is an internationally produced and published author. He has previously performed plays at his HERE Arts Center, Mixed Blood, The Public Theatre, Robert Gill Theatre, Ars Nova, and more. He received the Baron Israel Award from Theatricum Botanicum and the Rita & Barton Award from the Tisch School of Drama. He won L Magazine's pocket fiction contest. He co-creates and writes with Matt Roy Berger the award-winning musical podcast The Fall of the House of Sunshine (www.podmusical.com) (1 of 100 Best Podcasts to Listen to in 2019 by The Sunday Times) Listed in the “Best of” by Refinery 29, Woman's Day, and Polygon. House of Sunshine's fall run has featured a variety of high-profile performers, including Tony Award nominee Arian Moayed and podcast star Lauren Shippen. Other projects include “The Land Whale Murders,” “Radio Free Mushroom America,” and “Margaret's Garden (with Pacific Obadiah).” He received his master's degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
Jenny Turner-Hall is a Peabody Award-winning writer, director, and producer at the forefront of multiplatform storytelling. She has projects in film, television, podcasting, theater, and fiction. She wrote and directed Marvel's series “Wastelanders: Wolverine,'' which became the number one her podcast on audio fiction worldwide. Her scripted podcast, Mars Patel, won a Peabody Award for being the first scripted podcast and only the second podcast ever, and became her three-book series on Candlewick Press. Seven years later, Mars Patel is still gaining new listeners and topping the Kids/Family category. Vulture magazine deemed it one of her “10 Essential Fiction Podcasts That Shaped the Genre.” Most recently, Jenny directed her Audible original podcast series “I Think You're Projecting,” which won her Audible “Best of the Year.”
As a film/TV screenwriter, Jenny has won multiple competitions at both the Sundance and Austin Film Festivals, and Movie Maker Magazine named her one of the “25 Screenwriters to Watch.” I am. She is currently writing feature films and musicals for Broadway director Justin Martin (“Prima Facie”) and legendary showrunner Jack Burditt (“30 Rock,” “Modern Family”). ”) and is writing/producing a TV series. Additionally, Jenny also writes for Studio B, her non-profit arts organization that showcases her greatest talent on Broadway.
Jenny is extremely proud of her role as one of the executive producers of the Telly Award-winning audio fiction series 'A Simple Herstory'. It was exciting for her to collaborate with stage legends such as Kate Burton, Kara Young, Maria Dizia, Daphne Rubin-Vega on this project, as well as Jocelyn Kritsky, Donya K. We were also able to work with some very talented partners such as Washington and Jonathan Goldberg. She looks forward to joining the writers' room in her next season.
