Game Updates
– Final score: Stars 5, Oilers 3 (Dallas leads the series 2-1)
After a slow start, Dallas completely switched on in the second period, with Jason Robertson being key, scoring a much-needed hat trick and helping the Stars grab a one-game win on the road.
– 3rd period, 18:08: Dallas had some chances late, thanks to Miro Heiskanen’s empty-net shot, and Edmonton couldn’t find any rhythm offensively after Jason Robertson’s hat trick as Dallas led 5-3.
– 11 minutes and 53 seconds into the 3rd period: Jason Robertson, hat-trick hero.
Robertson put Dallas ahead again with a goal, this time placing the puck in a tight space between Stuart Skinner and the left post. It was Dallas’ first hat trick of the playoffs. The Stars led 4-3.
– 2nd time 19:08: It all came together again.
The Stars aren’t the only team with key players returning from injury. Adam Henrique scored in the final minute of the second period in Edmonton to tie the game at 3-3. Before that, Dallas had complete control of the game.
– 2nd time 9:08: As I said a few seconds ago, this is a whole new game.
Dallas came from behind in Edmonton and took the lead on a goal from Wyatt Johnston, then Jason Robertson scored the tying goal about a minute later before Johnston made his presence felt.
Stars lead 3-2.
– 2nd time 8:05: This is a new game in Edmonton.
Jason Robertson took control, scoring twice in the space of about two minutes, and Roope Hintz was instrumental in the scoring, assisting both of Robertson’s goals.
– 2nd round 5 minutes 35 seconds: Welcome back, Rupe Hinz.
Hintz, playing in his first game back from injury, assisted Jason Robertson on a nice finish. Dallas got a foothold early in the second period, hitting the first eight shots on goal of the period. Robertson scored the goal to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead.
– Second start: For now, the Stars can breathe a sigh of relief. Rookie Logan Stankoven left the game for a few minutes after deflecting a shot from Evan Bouchard late in the first period. After limping to the locker room, Stankoven returned to the ice at the start of the second period.
Dallas will be looking to overcome a two-point deficit.
– First end: The Stars struggled in the first period and Edmonton dominated in Game 3, with the Oilers outscoring the Stars 10-3.
Connor McDavid is constantly creating opportunities for his teammates and that’s been a problem. The Stars trailed 2-0 going into the second period.
– First 7:37: Connor McDavid made his presence known again, battling Tyler Seguin near Jake Ottinger’s goal and putting the puck in the back of the net. McDavid put enough force on the puck to send it past the Stars goalie.
Edmonton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.
– First 6:14: Edmonton controlled the pace in the opening minutes of the game, outshooting Dallas 7 to 2. Dallas’ shots came from Ryan Suter and Thomas Hurley. Edmonton held a 1-0 lead and continued to apply the offensive pressure.
– 2:02 of 1st period: The Oilers are taking advantage of home ice: Zach Hyman scored the first goal of the match less than three minutes into Game 3. Edmonton already has three shots on goal.
Hyman’s goal came off a deflected shot by Connor McDavid to give Edmonton a 1-0 lead.
– Game 3 is currently in Edmonton.
Pre-match updates
– Hintz responded: Roope Hintz returned for Game 3, taking part in pregame warmups at Rogers Place and joining Dallas’ top line rusher, which included Jason Robertson and Tyler Seguin.
The forward suffered an upper-body injury in the first period of Game 4 against Colorado and missed the remainder of that game and the next two weeks.
