Ezekiel Elliott I'm back in a familiar place. The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly signing Elliott to a one-year contract to allow him to return to the team.
Elliott will return to Dallas after spending one year with the Patriots.
ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith, who is not shy about how much he hates the Cowboys, reacted to the news on ESPN First Take Monday morning.
“It was very moving. I mean, it touches my heart,” Stephen A. Smith said of Elliott's return. “I'm happy for Ezekiel Elliott because I know Ezekiel Elliott wanted to come back to Dallas. He had no intention of leaving there in the first place…so I see him coming back. I’m happy.”
Elliott spent seven years with the Cowboys before joining the New England Patriots.
Smith is happy to have Elliott back in Dallas, but he doesn't expect him to perform at a high level. According to Stephen A. Smith, this doesn't suddenly make the Cowboys a Super Bowl contender.
“I don't think there's going to be much of a difference,” Smith said. “They didn't win a title when they had him and they're not going to win a title now. That's OK. … We're happy for him, but it's a game-changing It's not a movement.”
Ezekiel Elliott has been named All-Pro twice during his career, in 2016 and 2018. The former Ohio State star led the NFL in rushing both years. He has also been selected to the Pro Bowl three times.
