Subaru of America has announced plans to expand its operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area by relocating its central regional office to Coppell from Itasca, Ill. The company also plans to establish a new customer support center in Coppell.
The car company, whose U.S. headquarters is in Camden, New Jersey, said it plans to expand its Dallas-area workforce to coincide with the move.
“We are pleased to expand our footprint and capabilities in the southern U.S. to further support our customers and dealer network,” Subaru of America President and CEO Jeff Walters said in a statement. “Dallas is a vibrant region and its diverse talent will bring fresh perspectives that will further strengthen our company culture.”
The new Dallas business center will be co-located with Subaru’s existing distribution and training facility as part of a 200,000-square-foot expansion project with logistics real estate giant Prologis. Subaru said it expects the expansion to be completed later this year and ready for occupancy by early 2025.
Expanding presence in DFW
The Dallas Business Center will serve as a second location for Subaru’s Customer Advocacy Division (CAD), allowing Subaru to devote more resources toward providing exemplary customer service to owners and dealerships, which the company says is critical to its business operations.
The company says the new CAD office will help Subaru support customers, tap into the specialized talent pool in the Tokyo metropolitan area and enable closer collaboration across multiple business areas.
About 30,000 square feet of the project’s office space will be dedicated to the automaker’s central region sales and marketing operations, along with its offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The Dallas Business Center will be home to an estimated 100 employees and will be one of Subaru of America’s largest locations after its New Jersey headquarters.
Subaru says that once complete, the mixed-use expansion project will be LEED certified, feature EV charging facilities for passenger vehicles, and be equipped with high-efficiency HVAC.
According to the company, the total building size will be 500,600 square feet, including a 170,000 square foot expansion of the existing Regional Distribution Center which stores and handles auto parts and accessories. The existing Quality and Service Area Training Center, which is used to train Subaru dealer technicians and Subaru field service personnel, will receive additional classrooms as part of the expansion to better support automotive-related career education initiatives at Subaru University (Subaru U) and local secondary and higher education.
