With the No. 24 pick in the NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys are widely expected to acquire an impact player to rejuvenate their offensive line.
When it looks like Tyron Smith might be on his way, could they turn to a rising prospect who stands out among his peers?
Dallas may be wise to keep a close eye on Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton…and he's one of seven offensive tackles the Cowboys officially competed against at the NFL Scouting Combine, and Tyrone -This is all happening amid news that Smith is “unlikely.” ” and will return to “America's Team” while exploring free agency.
Who are the Magnificent 7?

Incidentally, in addition to Smith's future in Dallas being uncertain, the Cowboys also face the possibility of losing center Tyler Biadasz and reserve utility man Chuma Edoga as free agency approaches. ing.
Let's take a look at Guyton here…
Despite appearing in the first nine games of college football at TCU, Guyton committed to Oklahoma in 2022. He appeared in 10 games for the Sooners (nine starts) and allowed zero sacks, three pressures and 12 quarterback hits to the right tackle, according to Pro Football Focus. At 6-7 and 328 pounds, Guyton's great size and athleticism make him a top-25 prospect on many big boards in the NFL Draft media.
But his impressive performance in Senior Bowl practice could put him in the mix of players worthy of being the Cowboys' first-round pick in April's draft.
Our friend Dane Brugler writes: “An agile big man, Guyton has quick lower body movements with fluid hips that allow for natural recovery. He sinks his weight comfortably and anchors to keep blocks centered. He's still fundamentally immature, but when he plays against NFL talent, there should be bumps in the road.
“Still, with his tools and upside, Guyton deserves a top-20 pick.”
The big lineman, a former defensive tackle, showed impressive athleticism during the tournament's three days of practice, especially his explosiveness off the line. Although he played primarily at right tackle at the University of Oklahoma, Guyton has several traits needed to play well on the left side as well.
Here's his potential fit with the Cowboys.
The right side is effectively staffed by veteran Terrence Steele, who signed a five-year, $86.8 million contract extension with the Cowboys last September, but Guyton has a plug-and-play option on the left side and Smith has the talent to continue playing, but if he continues to play, it will be a football journey outside of Dallas. At the very least, he could be quite a succession plan at this position. Additionally, the former Sooner could provide insurance at right tackle if Steele is injured.
NFL draft predictions aren't an exact science, but there's a better-than-average chance that Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will be better protected by Guyton's duties. And Dallas seems to have a much higher than average chance of drafting an offensive lineman.
