Renovation work on a five-story mixed-use building on Texas Instruments’ Dallas headquarters campus could begin in July.
The semiconductor giant said no decisions have been made about the Kilby West building near U.S. Highway 75 and Interstate 635, but interior renovations of the 505,000-square-foot building may be underway, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The project could cost $119 million and be completed in 2027, according to the filing.
In response to questions, a TI spokesman said the company regularly evaluates opportunities to modernize and improve its facilities. He said no decisions had been made about Kilby Westville and that the application was made by a third party.
TI has renovated the Kilby East Building in recent years, updating office space and doing work in an existing high-voltage lab, according to state filings.
The Kilby Building is named after former TI engineer Jack Kilby, who discovered the integrated circuits that became the foundation for many of the technologies TI has developed over the years.
In North Texas, the company is ramping up production at its 300mm wafer fabrication facility in Richardson, which specializes in analog and embedded processing chips, and is also building four 300mm wafer fabrication facilities in Sherman.
