AUSTIN — Former Texas Longhorns linebacker Jaymond Tapp has decided to transfer.
According to a report from Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Tapp has committed to Arizona State University for the 2024 season. He entered the transfer portal earlier this month and decided to make Tempe his new home.
Tapp appeared in nine games for Texas, including seven in 2023. During his career with the Longhorns, he recorded nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Tapp, a native of Donaldsonville, Louisiana, originally came to the Longhorns as a member of the 2022 class, where he was selected as a consensus four-star player, ranked No. 130 in the nation, No. 15 on the Edge and No. 11 in the nation. Tapp was part of the 2022 Texas recruiting class that included big names like Kelvin Banks Jr., Jadon Blue, Malik Murphy, Savion Redd and DJ Campbell.
