ARLINGTON — Texas Rangers right fielder Adris Garcia underwent an MRI on his right forearm Sunday, and manager Bruce Bochy said the results were “pretty good.”
In the sixth inning of Saturday's 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels, Garcia collided with second baseman Marcus Semien as he attempted to follow a pop fly from Taylor Ward. Semien seemed the most upset of the two, but Bochy said Garcia “took a pretty good shot off Marcus there.” Both remained in the lineup throughout the Rangers' overtime victory.
“We're optimistic he'll be fine,” Bochy said. “We'll see how he's doing on Tuesday.” [against the Philadelphia Phillies]”
Garcia was scheduled to start at designated hitter in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Angels, but was removed shortly after the lineup was first announced. Robbie Grossman started in his place at designated hitter and Travis Jankowski started in right field.
The Rangers' outfield will be near full strength if Garcia avoids a serious injury. Rookie Evan Carter is scheduled to start in left field Sunday for the first time since May 10 after being sidelined for a week with a lower back injury, and Bochy said Sunday that fellow rookie Wyatt Langford is scheduled to start in left field for the first time since May 10 with a hamstring injury. He said that his rehabilitation from his muscle strain is “progressing well.''
“He steps up to the plate and swings the bat well in BP,” Bochy said. “I watched the video of his first day and he hit a few home runs. He's doing well.”
