The Cowboys enter the third and final day of the NFL Draft without a fourth-round pick. Jerry Jones was quick to point out that quarterback Trey Lance, whom he sent to the 49ers for a fourth-round pick last season, was the pick.
Dallas has picks in the fifth round (No. 174), sixth round (No. 216) and seventh round (Nos. 233 and 244). The need to add depth at running back, defensive tackle and perhaps cornerback, wide receiver and offensive line could be the way to go for the Cowboys. Jones said he wasn't surprised by the small number of running backs they took on the second day of the draft, including four.
So, will the Cowboys target a running back on Day 3?
Let's take a look at 10 players the Cowboys could sign on Day 3.
Ray Davis, RB, Kentucky
Last season, Davis led the SEC in rushing for 1,129 yards and 14 touchdowns. Davis was second-team All-SEC last year. He is a transfer from Temple and Vanderbilt.
Braylon Allen, RB, Wisconsin
Allen ran for 948 yards and 12 touchdowns and was named second-team All-Big Ten. He scored 35 touchdowns in three seasons.
Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, Purdue
Running backs coach Jeff Blasko visited Pro Day. Tracy was a wide receiver until converting to running back in 2023. He ran for 716 yards and eight touchdowns.
Jace McClellan, RB, Alabama
He ran for 890 yards and eight touchdowns at Alabama. The Aledo product scored his 18 touchdowns over the past two seasons. Maybe he's a 6th rounder.
Rasheen Ali, RB, Marshall
He was one of the Cowboys' pre-draft visitors. Ali tore his bicep at the Senior Bowl, so it will be an interesting development as to when he will be able to work out.
Nathaniel Watson, LB, Mississippi State
One interesting inside linebacker will be available on the final day of the draft. He leads the SEC in total tackles and is likely a sixth-round pick.
Giovanni Manu, T., University of British Columbia
The Cowboys have some value in this player. He is one of their 30 visitors and has several teams interested. He is 6-8 years old and 350 pounds. So he's a tackle, right?
Jack Freeman, C, Houston
He was one of the Cowboys' Dallas Day visitors. Such a player could come in as a seventh-round/undrafted free agent addition.
Jaylan Ford, ILB, Texas
The Lone Star High School product led Texas with 101 tackles. He's one of the players we need to get drafted.
Hunter Nowzad, C, PA
Do the Cowboys want to take a center late in the draft? Nowzad has the flexibility at the position that coach Mike McCarthy wants. Nuzad can play guard and center.
