Given how inactive the Dallas Cowboys have been in free agency, I hope they get a great draft pick to make up for it.
Dallas has been one of the better draft teams in the NFL recently, but with a disappointing 2023 draft, this year will be a real test for America's Team. The Cowboys have clear needs at multiple positions, and with only seven picks, they should be considered important.
One of the Cowboys' biggest positions of need is linebacker, and they are doing their due diligence ahead of this month's draft. On Friday, they welcomed Michigan Wolverines star Junior Colson, one of the top linebackers in the class, for a visit, and Colson also posted on Instagram to celebrate the visit.
The 6-2, 238-pound Colson was a mainstay in the Wolverines' stingy defense throughout his three-year career. The Brentwood, Tenn., native started 36 games over the past three seasons and totaled 256 tackles during that time. Of course, he also helped Michigan reach the College Football Playoff three times and win the national championship in January.
Described by DallasCowboys.com as a “bona fide run stopper,” Colson is widely viewed as one of the top linebacker prospects in this draft. He's likely to be selected on the second day, and if he's available to the Cowboys at No. 56 overall, he could be a favorite.
Linebacker remains a position of need for Dallas, even after signing Eric Kendricks in free agency. His run stuff makes him a very attractive target as the Cowboys ran him into the ground multiple times last season.
