Tell us about your family and one activity you enjoy doing together
I have two children. My daughter Tiona, who is currently in college, plans to join the military as an officer soon. My son Tariq is a very talented drummer and will be attending university next semester. As a family, we really enjoy going to theme parks as often as possible. It's a full day where everyone can be a big kid without worrying about the outside world.
Please tell us more about your career to date and how you came to your current position.
I am a real estate concierge broker currently serving Fayetteville and surrounding areas and expanding into the Triangle. I entered this industry five years ago when I bought my first home. I never thought about becoming a real estate agent until my agent told me that my background in retail management made me a good fit. But the whole home buying process gave me the final push into real estate school. I realized that my community lacked the knowledge and steps needed to buy a home, and I wanted to help people understand more so they, too, could become homeowners. Real estate has been challenged in recent years, from interest rates to not enough homes on the market. But I overcame it all and was able to help more families every year. The ability to disseminate what I learned to clients as well as agents helped me become a managing broker.
When a client comes to see you, what is the main goal you want them to achieve?
joy. Most clients come in excited but a little overwhelmed. My goal is to provide you with a full range of services so you have a stress-free and smooth experience so you can focus on your move and I take care of everything else. It's about being able to do it. I provide a list of experienced lenders to the contractors I work closely with, all with the same goals in mind. That means ensuring client satisfaction. Buying a home should be an enjoyable experience as you finally have a place to call your own. That's my goal. Our goal is to ensure that every client has a great experience as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
While balancing motherhood and career, what techniques do you use to reduce stress when things get hectic?
I read inspirational books. This helps me regain focus and reminds me that success isn't always easy and comes with consistency. Also, write down your goals so you can practice time management and prioritization.
What wisdom would you share with someone just starting out on their journey to motherhood?
Everything is always changing and everything is just a phase. From crying babies to starting college, know that today's struggles will be easier. However, when it seems like nothing has changed, remember that this phase is over and a new journey begins.
What are your passions outside of work and family (what do you do for fun)?
I enjoy traveling. This gives you time to explore different regions of the world and their beauty. I'm a huge foodie, so I love tasting comforting dishes from different cultures.
How do you want to be remembered when it's all over?
I want to be remembered as authentic. Stay true to your values and the impact you have had on your children's lives.
