Images of the moon first began to travel above the sun from Mexico to Texas in the United States.
Watch parties were held at the Front Street Station in Mesquite and the Fort Worth Zoo. Students and teachers cheered at D.A. Halsey Middle School.
“It's kind of cool to see these animals go in and out,” Houston resident Todd Beebe, 34, told The Associated Press at the zoo.
