duck prescott He may or may not play his final season with the Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones has sent mixed messages about the longtime Dallas quarterback.
But Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman says his old team needs to extend Prescott. At least in his opinion, it's a no-brainer. Some Dallas fans still upset about the loss to the Packers may not think this is all that bad.
“I've been listening to you all on TV and radio. I mean, they had to fulfill his deal, right?” Mr. Aikman asked reporters gathered at Mr. Aikman and Mr. Prescott's event.
“We need to free up money, right? So he's going to be here a while longer, and he should be. He's proven he can play at a high level. We've been underpowered as a team the last few years. I know he's a great player in this league, and his best days are yet to come.”
Aichman retired from soccer a long time ago. But he's still close to the game as he's the lead analyst for Monday Night Football. He did not mention that Prescott will celebrate his birthday 31 days after the Cowboys' open training camp this summer. Prescott has started every season since the Cowboys selected him with the 135th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Has Dak Prescott hit a plateau with the Cowboys?Eichman says no.
It remains to be seen when Prescott will reach his ceiling, but the quarterback had a good year for the Cowboys. The team won 12 games, and Prescott finished second behind Lamar Jackson for NFL MVP honors.
But the Cowboys ended the season in all-too-familiar fashion. They lost early in the playoffs. In fact, the Packers, the last team to qualify for the NFC, beat Dallas in the opening game at AT&T Stadium.
Prescott became the seventh-oldest starting QB last season. However, some starting QBs in their 30s are having problems. Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins are coming off Achilles injuries, and Cousins will be a free agent next week. Additionally, Russell Wilson will also be changing teams. Only Matthew Stafford has won a recent Super Bowl, and that was three seasons ago. I know Tom Brady did a good job of scolding the old guys, but he's already retired.
Aikman, on the other hand, did not mention that he had already won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys before he turned 30.
