ANGLETON, Texas — The tragic shooting occurred on February 12, 2024 at approximately 8:20 a.m. in the 900 block of S. Velasco Street in Angleton, Brazoria County, Texas. Upon arrival, Angleton Police Department officers located two victims and learned that the suspect had fled the scene.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Bradley Jones, was located safely on a county beach and arrested. The quick arrest was made possible through the combined efforts of the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office, 1st Precinct Constable's Office, Department of Public Safety (DPS), Texas Rangers, Brazoria County District Attorney's Office, and Lake Jackson Police Department.
The victims, Devin Murrell, 37, and Darla Murrell, 66, were airlifted to a Houston hospital for emergency treatment, where they tragically succumbed to their injuries. Jones is currently charged with two counts of murder and is currently in custody at the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office.
The Angleton Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the families of Devin and Darla Murrell.
