Guyton is a Texas native who spent time at TCU before transferring to Oklahoma before heading to Dallas. He is originally from Texas and plans to return to his home state in 2024. He has played in a total of 29 games in his college career, so he has plenty of experience in his game. He has the flexibility to play either right tackle or left tackle — the latter being what the Cowboys want from him.
The 6-foot-8, 322-pound lineman, an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection in 2023, recorded zero sacks on 355 snaps as a pass blocker last season, given the void created by the loss of players. , that's nothing to sneeze at. The future Hall of Famer left a tackle on Tyron Smith on the blind side of Dak Prescott.
The year before, Guyton allowed just two sacks on 400 snaps as a pass blocker, further illustrating the point of his ability to protect quarterbacks.
His frame is certainly exceptional and his ability to manipulate his body is excellent, making him one of the most athletic offensive linemen in the class. When it comes to run blocking, Guyton is often able to make the most of pulls and pushes, opening up impressive run lanes.
To really be a force at the NFL level, he'll need to perfect his hand position and keep his pads low at all times. The latter in particular needs to be focused on as his height can be utilized in situations where his pads go up.
Now under manager Mike McCarthy, Guyton will be asked to step in and impact the game right away, theoretically allowing another Tyler (Smith) to remain at left guard.
