After a thrilling double-overtime win over Maryland on Saturday afternoon, the media interviewed Bruce Thornton, Roddy Gale and Chris Holtmann about the win that ended the Buckeyes' losing streak at five.
Gayle was immediately asked about the windmill dunk he threw with four seconds left after Zed Key nearly sealed the game by blocking Donta Scott under the basket. The sophomore guard said he “got permission” from his teammates, but never from his coaches.
Mr. Thornton took time to talk about validation and how all the work he had put in was necessary for it to finally pay off in the form of a win. He also said that although senior Key was seriously ill the day before the game, he is “always ready.”
Chris Holtmann said players need wins to feel like all the effort they put in was worth it, said Tuesday's loss to Indiana was a “gut punch,” and Holtmann said time We talked about a few players over the course of the season, including Thornton, Gayle, Key, and Devin Royal as the four players who had a big impact.
