Will “Oppenheimer” clean up? probably. But how much? When it comes to leading actresses, who will win the battle of stones, Lily Gladstone or Emma Stone? Will “Barbie” choose anything other than best song?
There are so many categories to consider, and this week's episode takes a deep dive into 23 of them, including some lesser-known categories that can make or break players.
Christopher Nolan's blockbuster Oppenheimer has won every major award, including the Golden Globe, Critics Circle Award, DGA, BAFTA, SAG and PGA, making it his first since Argo (2012). It became a movie that had a “perfect season.” The Universal Pictures biopic could match the record set by 1961's “West Side Story” for the second time in history with 10 awards.
In the supporting actor category, Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer) and Da'Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers) are at the top. The race for lead actress is a little more uncertain. Cillian Murphy stars in “Oppenheimer's” dominance, but don't count out Paul Giamatti in “The Holdovers” or Jeffrey Wright in “American Fiction.”
In the Best Actress category, Emma Stone won a lot of support for her role as a woman with the brain of a child in Yorgos Lanthimos' “Poor Things,” while Martin Scorsese's “Killers of the Flower” Lily Gladstone's breakthrough win at the SAG Awards for “Moon'' could provide enough momentum. In order to seize victory amidst heated votes. Don't take into account Sandra Hüller's appearance in the French legal thriller Anatomy of the Fall. This work split the votes between overseas members and Stone, paving the way for Gladstone's rise to prominence.
Greta Gerwig's “Barbie” received a lukewarm reception at the Guild Awards, but Billie Eilish and Finneas' Grammy-winning song “What Was I Made For?” is the favorite in the original song category. It seems so. You are in a position to win the prize.
