Apple has added support for transcripts to the Apple Podcasts app, making podcasts easier to navigate and accessible to more people (via Apple). With this new feature, users will be able to read a podcast from start to finish, search for specific words in the transcript, and tap on any part of the transcript to start playing the podcast from that moment. .
Transcript support is currently available only to iPhone users with iOS 17.4 and iPad users with iPadOS 17.4, and it's not yet clear whether it will be available on older operating systems in the future. . All new podcast episodes in English, French, German, and Spanish are fully transcribed immediately after publication, and older podcast episodes are transcribed over time.
How to use transcripts with Apple Podcasts
If your device is running iOS 17.4 or iPadOS 17.4, you can access transcript support for Apple Podcasts.
After you open the Apple Podcasts app and find a podcast episode you're interested in, there are two ways to view its transcript. From the “Now Playing” screen that pops up while listening to a podcast, transcription button (dialog box icon with quotation marks) in the lower left corner.
Alternatively, you can open the transcript without playing the podcast episode. On the podcast page, three point menu Click in the top right corner to select View transcript From the available options.
Once the transcript appears, you can swipe up or down to read it, or tap the icon to search for specific words. magnifying glass icon It's in the top right corner. If you're listening to a podcast while reading a transcript, you'll see each word highlighted as you say it.
