Dallas is expected to have a wet weekend leading up to Christmas, with widespread showers and an estimated 1.5 to 2 inches of precipitation by Sunday.
The National Weather Service says holiday travel is likely to bring rain and traffic congestion.
Showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected across North and Central Texas from Saturday evening into Sunday. According to the NWS, short periods of heavy rain could cause minor flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The rain is expected to end by Sunday evening.
The forecast for Christmas Day, Monday, is likely to be dry, chilly and breezy as the rain eases off. The NWS predicts Christmas in Dallas will start out mainly in the low 40s, with temperatures rising to the upper 40s to mid-50s by the afternoon with northwesterly winds.
The remaining week until New Year's Day is expected to be mostly sunny and cool.
