There are only two ways to explain why Mark Cuban sold the Dallas Mavericks to Miriam Adelson: Either he had no qualms and, despite his previous vehemence in denouncing Donald Trump’s personality cult, slept with Trump’s biggest supporter because she represented his best chance of making more billions of dollars. Or
Sorry, there is only one explanation for why Cuban sold the Mavs.
So where will the Mavericks Casino and Resort be built if Texas gives in? I have a pretty good guess.
Remember where Texas Stadium used to be? Across Highway 114 from there, about 108 acres changed hands in July and were taxed for $22.5 million. The buyer? A corporation called Village Walk RE 2 LLC, located at 800 Capitol St. in Houston, according to Dallas Central Appraisal District records. That’s the address of the law firm Winston & Strawn. We can’t imagine that the firm’s president, Tom Fitzgerald, is bullish on Irving real estate. Moving on.
According to Texas state records, Village Walk RE 2 LLC’s tax ID number is 32090694657. The account’s mailing address is 5420 S. Durango Dr. in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is also the address for Las Vegas Sands Corp., owned by Miriam Adelson, who now controls the Dallas Mavericks and wrote in a Las Vegas newspaper that her book should be in Trump’s Bible.
To be clear, I am not happy that Adelson now owns my favorite basketball team, and here’s what I think about the casino she’s building in Irving.
