Undaunted by attacks on DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), OKC-area Realtors® are undaunted by attacks on DEI to align themselves with Oklahoma City's changing makeup. It is not. Members of Realtors®' five boards of directors and four other of his real estate groups recently gathered for an event billed as “Celebrating Diversity Together.” Realtors® are state-licensed real estate agents and members of the National Association of Realtors®, an industry group that encourages state and local commissions to form their own DEI committees. Whether it's called “DEI” or not, promoting diversity is nothing new for OKC area Realtors®, who see it as a natural extension of their obligation to uphold fair housing laws that prohibit discrimination. That's what I think. “We are extremely proud of this event and the work we are doing as an organization,” said Adam Majory, CEO of Oklahoma City Metro Association of Realtors®. ” he said. Other of his Realtor® groups in which he participated were the Edmond Board of Realtors®, Midwest City-Del City-Moore Association of Realtors®, Norman Board of Realtors®, and Oklahoma Association of Realtors®. “It is the duty of his Realtor® organization at every level to ensure that our membership represents and reflects the communities we serve,” said Majory. “There are two main avenues: one, to ensure historically underrepresented demographics enter the real estate profession at an earlier age; It's about charting a path where becoming an expert isn't just your second or third career.
