Wisconsin is one of the easiest states to sell a home based on average days to sell, according to a new report from Agent Advice.
According to the report, Indiana ranked first with an average of about 60 days from start to finish, while Wisconsin came in second with an average of about 65 days. Michigan State was third with 66 days.
The study analyzed recent Zillow data outlining the average number of days it takes for an offer to be accepted and the average number of days it takes for a sale to close on a home in each state. Sales timing will fluctuate due to demand for migration to the state and a lack of supply of affordable housing, the report said.
Mike Ruzicka, president of the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors (GMAR), said housing demand in Milwaukee is high and inventory is low, so properties will sell quickly. “The market is really tight and, frankly, this is an unprecedented situation,” he said.
Wisconsin also uses a state-approved form, but in other states each broker uses their own form, which can slow down the sales process.
Ruzicka said real estate agents in Wisconsin can perform limited legal work by drafting contracts for their clients, something that only lawyers can do in other states, which allows them to do local legal work. The company says it can further speed up the sales process.
