After Highland Park golfer Scottie Scheffler won his second green jacket in three years at the Masters Tournament on Sunday, he flew back to Texas and visited the venerable Inwood Tavern in Dallas.
The Love Field District watering hole has been operating in Dallas for 60 years since 1964, making it one of the longest-running bars in North Texas.
Inwood Tavern is a pool hall, sports bar, and patio hangout all in one. It's the kind of place Scheffler, who just won the Masters, could slip into without much fuss. Manager Sam Graves said a day after Scheffler appeared at Inwood Tavern that she and her staff wanted to make sure the celebrity blended in.
Actor Owen Wilson is one of the celebrities who visited Inwood Tavern.
An avid Darashitz had been looking forward to the Masters match, wondering if Scheffler would be able to finish the tournament. Scheffler had said he would withdraw from the Masters if his wife gave birth to their first child. That didn't happen, and Scheffler appears to have returned home.
We asked whether Mr. Scheffler's appearance would draw more customers to the bar. “Maybe Monday looked normal,” Graves said.
Inwood Tavern is located at 7717 Inwood Road, Dallas.
