YouTube Music steps up its podcast game with new improvements

YouTube Music is accelerating its offering of podcast content to make YouTube Music a better place for podcast lovers following the recent Google Podcasts shutdown. As this transition continues, the Youtube Podcast team said in a post on Reddit that it has “put a lot of effort” into following consumer feedback to improve the experience on the app, and that we should see further improvements. In the post, the team points out that they have made three improvements to the user experience. Listeners can now sort podcast episodes by newest to oldest, oldest to newest, most popular, or default (order set by the creator).

Next, listeners outside the U.S. who have podcasts in their YouTube Music library will be able to see them on their home screen, including a new “Recommended Shows” shelf. And finally, the team also made changes to search results to make it easier to find YouTube podcasts.

Podcasts on YouTube Music officially launched in April 2023, when Google began allowing users in the United States to listen to podcasts on YouTube Music. Several updates were made throughout the year and it expanded to countries outside of the United States.
