Frisco, Texas — The first wave of Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys' reunion is already being felt in the locker room, at least for quarterback Trey Lance. Elliott began his offseason conditioning program wearing his familiar No. 21 jersey, but then changed his mind about wearing it for the 2024 season.
Instead, Lance will be transitioning to No. 15 for the first time in Dallas (the number he wore during the 2023 season with the New England Patriots to commemorate his career at Ohio State), and Lance will be wearing No. 15 for the first time in Dallas. He will be given a new jersey in 2020. With the club.
Lance is a former No. 3 overall pick acquired by the Cowboys in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers in 2023 and will now wear No. 19.
Ryan Flournoy, a rookie sixth-round pick from Southeast Missouri State, was originally given No. 19, but a new jersey number has not yet been decided. At least for now, Flanova will likely wear a number that overlaps with the defensive players, which the NFL allows in non-game scenarios.
Despite Flornois, the number assignments for the incoming rookie class are as follows:
Tyler Guyton – 60
Marshawn Kneeland – 94
Cooper Beebe – 56
Marist Liufo – 35
Kaylen Carson – 41
Ryan Flournoy – TBA
Nathan Thomas – 62
Justin Rogers – 96
It's clear that Elliott is hoping to come back with a new look in his second stint with the Cowboys, a possibility reflected in the front office's overall belief in that possibility. .
This is Elliott's ninth year in the NFL and eighth with the Cowboys, but this time his magic number is 15 instead of 21.
